The hunt for the defending champion begins with a home match. The German Touring Yacht Club will welcome its competitors on Lake Starnberg from 29 April - 17 clubs will challenge the 2015 German champion.
However, it remains to be seen who will be involved in the fourth Bundesliga season. The relegation play-off between the clubs that finished 13th to 15th in the previous series on the one hand and the fourth to sixth-placed clubs in the second division on the other had to be cancelled on the first weekend of November last year due to the weather.
This time, the relegation is therefore directly preceding the season opener. On 27 and 28 April - also on Lake Starnberg - six clubs will compete for the three open starting places. If the weather conditions once again prevent at least five races from being sailed, there will be neither promotion nor relegation this year.
The three top teams from League 2 have already qualified for the 2016 Bundesliga as promoted teams: Lindauer Segler-Club, Bayerischer Yacht-Club and Lübecker Yacht-Club.
